Scholarship Description: The College of Humanities at the University of Exeter has considerable research strengths in the area of Medical Humanities, broadly defined. This has been recognised in the designation of Medical Humanities as one of the themes of the University’s new interdisciplinary Humanities and Social Science Strategy. The College hosts the Centre for Medical History (CMH), which is funded by the Wellcome Trust and is dedicated to advancing methods and areas of research within the history of medicine and forging links with medical and health care professionals in the region. It is also home to the interdisciplinary Centre for the Study of Sexuality and Gender in Europe (CISSGE). The University (along with the University of Plymouth) is also home to the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry, which is home to some activity in the subject. Crucially, however, medical humanities activity is extensive across and between all the disciplines represented within the College, and applications are welcomed from a wide range of specialisms. We offer a supportive and stimulating environment for postgraduate research and practice and welcome students from all around the world.
